Meadow Foods has been recognised for its commitment to supporting British dairy farmers
Leading dairy ingredients business Meadow Foods has been recognised for its commitment to supporting British dairy farmers.
The company, which works with more than 400 dairy farmers nationwide and processes 400m litres of milk each year, has beaten off tough competition to be named Large Business of the Year in the Cheshire Business Awards.
Originally founded as a farmer-backed trading business, Meadow Foods has grown to become the leading supplier of dairy ingredients to the UK food industry. The company provides products to leading blue chip manufacturers including Unilever and Nestle for use in everything from soups and sauces to pastry, ready meals and chocolate.
The judging panel praised Meadow Foods’ commitment to rural economies. Judges were also impressed by Meadow’s focus on quality and ability to offer a stable buyer for dairy farmers.
Paul Deakin, managing director for Meadow Foods, said: “A combination of falling UK milk supply and rising on-farm costs are making the dairy industry particularly tough this year.
“By working closely with both farmers and food manufacturers we aim to create some stability in this volatile market – offering farmers a fair price and a secure buyer for their milk, while ensuring manufacturers have guaranteed supplies.
“This award is testament to the hard work and determination of our teams and the dairy farmers that we work with.”
