Meadow Foods, the UK’s largest independent dairy and leading supplier of milk based dairy ingredients to the food industry, is delighted to announce the recruitment of its 600th milk producer. The significant milestone for the business was achieved following the company’s recent milk price increase and appointment of a new farm liaison manager in South Wales.
The 600th producer is Roblin & Sons who milk 300 cows from their family farm in Clynderwen, Pembrokshire. Gwyn Roblin, comments: “It’s a big step for any farmer to change milk buyer but we made the move because of Meadow’s honest contract, the price they offered us and the good working relationships they achieve with their producers.”
Jim Bebb, Milk Procurement Director at Meadow Foods comments: “We’ve worked hard to build our farmer base by providing producers with a simple and straightforward contract as well as a fair price for milk. This strategy has paid off as the number of farmers wanting to sell their milk to us has increased by more than 15% in the last year alone. We are looking to continue to increase this number in the coming months as we work to meet the growing demand for our dairy products.”
Meadow Foods operates from factories in Chester, Peterborough and Holme-on-Spalding Moor, and their products include cream, butter, sweetened condensed milk, anhydrous milk fat, chocolate crumb and cultured products. The company, founded in 1992, now employs more than 250 people and has a turnover in excess of £340m.
