Focus on: Peterborough

It’s been an exciting year for Meadow Foods so far and there is still plenty more to come. Over the next few months, we’re investing more money into our Peterborough site. As the home of our fresh products is set for land extensions, factory capcity increases, new job opportunities and product line expansions, we thought we’d run you through all the details of the upcoming developments…

Currently, our Peterborough factory produces all our fresh products, including, sour cream, crème fraiche, yoghurt, creams and milks. With over 85,000 tonnes manufactured annually for food manufacuturing businesses and the food service sector, we’re hoping that our latest £3 million investment will increase these figures even further. Our investment is a result of extensive research where we worked with our customers to develop improvements and additions, and now, we will be implementing specific changes that will address our customer feedback.

Here at Meadow, we believe that it is vital to have a strong relationship with customers and understand their needs and wants, so, following in the footsteps of our Holme on Spalding Moor factory, we’ll be launching a Customer Innovation Centre at our Peterborough site. The centre will have a state-of-the-art kitchen and meeting rooms where we’ll be able to work with our customers to develop new products and better existing ones, based on their manufacturing needs. For a sneak peak into how the Peterborough CIC will look, take a look at the Yorkshire site’s centre here.

Of course to help us maintain these our extended standards of excellence, we’ll be needing more staff. Currently our Peterborough factory employs 70 people, but in the coming months, we’re hoping to have over 100 Meadow staff members at this site alone. We’re already looking to recruit, so if you want to be a part of our fantastic team, drop us an email through our careers page!

Part of our investment is based upon gaining more land to host these facilities and increase factory space. Our plans, which are being finalised in collaboration with Peterborough Council, would extend the 4-acre site by an extra 5 acres will allow us plenty of room to build and run the facilities we need. But, with this land comes the responsibility of ensuring that our factory runs at its most efficient, so like our Chester factory – which uses a state-of-the-art water waste management system to help protect our environment– we’ll be dedicating a proportion of the investment to fund plant automation and efficiency increases.

Here at Meadow Foods, we cannot wait until each of these new aspects are up and running. We know the next four years will hold many exciting developments for our Peterborough siteand we look forward to sharing them with our customers, farmers and end-users.
