Focus on: Chester

Here at Meadow Foods, we believe that we are where we are today because of our dedicated teams and innovative manufacturing processes. So, this year we’ll be doing a three-part series focusing on each of our three sites, kicking off with our head offices: Chester.

The Products

At our Chester site, we specialise in the production of dairy-based fats – including bulk butter, butter oil and milk concentrates. We produce up to 20,000 tonnes of bulk butter and butter oil every year, which is then used by businesses across the world. Churned from fresh cream, our butter-based ingredients are used in the production of cakes, pastries, sauces, soups, chocolate and ice cream.

The Team

Heading up our Chester site’s production is Karl Sears, who has been with the company for almost 20 years! He joined us as a senior production manager, before progressing to interim operations manager and finally site director, where he has responsibility for Chester’s overall site operations.

Karl is a testament to our company’s dedication to identifying and working with talented individuals to develop the strongest teams: “Meadow Foods has always been a progressive and ambitious company that continues to grow and change – which has provided some excellent opportunities to progress within the business.”

Chester is also home to our head office, where our specialist teams of accountants, administrators and farmer payment executives work to ensure that our production facilities are working to their maximum abilities and that our farmers are paid in a timely manner.

What Makes Chester Special?

We are incredibly proud of our effluent plant in Chester, which we have recently invested £2 million in. You can read all about here, but essentially it is an investment we have made in order to clean the waste water, a natural part of the dairy manufacturing process, more efficiently before it is used for both cleaning purposes on site and re-introduced back into our local waters, the River Dee.

If you would like to learn more about our Chester site, why not get in contact with our teams – whether you are looking for bulk butter products or are interested in joining our team, we’d love to hear from you!
